I understand that maybe you'd want to know if my elevator goes all the way to the top.  Especially if you're coming for lampworking lessons these kinds of things might prove to be important.

I'm blonde, 5'2", 100 lbs, love long walks on the beach, camping and family picnics.  And if you believe that, I have some wonderful swamp property to sell you.  Truthfully, I'm 5'7" tall, dark hair and overweight.  The rest of it is true.

I've been an art teacher in Michigan Public Schools since I was 30.  I love my job, but can't wait to retire in a few more years.

It's been said that I say what other people only think, so I suppose I'm pretty blunt.  Usually I preface any human contact with "I'd never ever do anything to purposely hurt your feelings or embarrass you, so take what I say with a grain of salt"  I mean well, and I'm just trying to be funny.  That's my way of dealing with this crazy world.  Humor, after all, is the best medicine.  Much of that comes from working with high school kids for so long and being a cancer survivor.

We live in Northern Michigan.  My husband, Larry is a great cook and the love of my life.  I feel very lucky to have found someone to put up with me the way he does.  Artists are pretty difficult to live with I've been told.  We've been married for 33 years, have three children, a boy 24 and two girls, ages 38 & 19, so I suppose we've managed pretty well.  I know I wouldn't have it any other way.  (The 38 year old is from Larry's first marriage in case you were wondering.)  We also have 3 wonderful grandsons, a granddaughter and a new one on the way!!)

I started lampworking after one of my students inquired into working with glass about 7 years ago.  It's been an addiction I've never been ashamed of.  My job gets in the way of my time at the torch, but the studio doesn't collect much dust.  I manage to be in there quite often each week.

If you need to know anymore, I suppose you'll just have to come for a visit or see me at one of my shows.
