Directions for Kumihino Necklace or Bracelet with seed beads

 

  1. Cut 4 strands of Tuff Cord. These will be folded in half.  DO NOT CUT THEM IN HALF!
  2. For Bracelet, cut four 60 inches  These will be folded in half, so they will be 30 inch long strands
  3. For Necklace, cut four 120 inches These will be folded in half, so they will be 60  inch long strands
  4. Fold in half
  5. Slip knot folded end through 8mm jump ring Figure D
  6. Tighten
  7. Slip Large Hole Bead through cords Figure D
  8. Tie a weighted bag to the jump ring. Figure D
  9. Slip ends of cord through center of Kumihino Disc Figure F
  10. Separate cords, with 2 at each side Figure E
  11. Using Floss Threader, thread seed beads on each string.
  12. 100 #8 seed beads on each string will make a 16 inch cord
  13. Tie end of string so beads will not slip off Figure G
  14. Wind strings onto bobbins up to beads Figure H
  15. Begin braiding a few without beads, 2 to 15, 17 to 31, Turn to the right
  16. 26 to 7, 9 to 24, Turn to the right
  17. Keep braiding until you see a crossed string that will allow a bead to slip under it
  18. Begin braiding with the beads, 2 goes to 15, slip a bead up the string and then under the crossed string Figure L
  19. 17 goes to 31, slip a bead under the crossed string  (Your numbers will be different, since you already did a few, but you get the idea)
  20. Keep braiding until you reach desired length
  21. Always leave the braid if you have to stop with the 3 strings down, that way you can pick back up where you left off.
  22. At end of braid, leave strings on disc, and tie opposite end strings to each other in knots, until all strings are tied
  23. Slip ends through big hole bead Figure O
  24. Separate threads in two sets Figure P
  25. Slip one set of strings through jump ring in one direction Figure Q
  26. Slip the other set of strings through the jump ring in the opposite direction Figure R
  27. Using floss threader, slip one set of strings back through big hole bead Figure S
  28. Slip the other set of strings back through the big hole beads Figure T
  29. Keep sets of strings separate Figure T
  30. Pull tightly
  31. Tie opposite sides, one at a time into knots Figure U
  32. Keep tying until all ends are tied securely. Move around the braid so all knots are not on the same side Figure V
  33. Trim with scissors close to bead Figure W
