Elements and Principles of Art

Aaaarrrttt! Art is obviously one of the Three R's. (Peter William Brown)

Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary. Cecil Beaton

The Cadillac High School Art Curriculum has several components, Art I, II, III & IV.  Students move through the program progressively.  Art I begins by studying the Elements and Principles of Art.  Projects are completed in each of the units to promote further understanding of each of the elements and principles.  Art IA explores the Elements of Art.  Art IB explores the Principles of Art.

You will need to purchase or make a book to put your pages in.  A standard 12" x 12" scrapbook works great.  ALL PAGES ARE 12 INCHES BY 12 INCHES.  If you can't afford to purchase a scrapbook, then you can purchase the replacement pages that go into a standard scrapbook and then make your own cover out of heavy cardboard, posterboard, or whatever you can find.  Make sure you decorate it professionally.   PLEASE DO NOT USE GLITTER, OIL PASTELS, OR CHALKS!

Presentation is EVERYTHING!  EACH ONE OF YOUR PAGES MUST HAVE A THEME!  USE YOUR CREATIVITY, WITHIN REASON OF COURSE!

Your Finished Book, with ALL the pages done is 85% of your final exam grade.  The written part of the exam is worth 15% of your final exam grade.  Books that DO NOT have ALL the pages done will NOT be accepted for a partial grade.  (See instructor for special circumstances)
